Padres and Angels today....3/16/2012

Greetings on a sunny Friday morning in the desert.  Today the Padres face the Angels for the second time this spring.   The teams will meet in the regular season in inter-league play, at Petco Park, May 18-20, a Friday-Sunday series.  Just can't shake that Pujols guy!

Rants/Raves:

Every year I take part in at least one Bracket Challenge for the NCAA Tourney (for entertainment purposes only of course!) and never in the many many years of picking had I ever had a perfect day.  I'm still searching thanks to UNLV.  If the Rebels of Las Vegas would have played a decent game and not had to try to come back late I would have been 16 for 16.  Ugh.  15 for 16 ain't bad, that kind of batting average would put me in the Hall of Fame.

There was an interesting note about UConn's first round loss yesterday to Iowa State.  It marked just the second time since 1979 that the Huskies lost a first round game.  Can you remember the first?  I can, I was there to witness it in all it's glory.  The 70-69 OT win by the then 13th seeded USD Toreros over the 4th seeded Huskies in Tampa.  What a day and run that was.  There's just something about the tournament mystique and if you've lived it or had your favorite team go on a run, it's unforgettable.

What's with CBS Sportsline charging money now to watch NCAA Tournament games on demand on your computer or iPad?  It's only $3.99, but isn't CBS making like 15 trillion dollars from the NCAA to televise the games?  Give us a break!  I paid it of course, but still, come on!

Ok that's that for now.  Join Jerry, Bob Scanlan and me for today's game against the Angels.  We'll be on XX1090 today, starting at 1pm.  Please join us.
